Features and Inspiration Vol. 9: Y35 Mag is pleased to introduce you to the minds of three film photographers from the United States, France, and Canada. Joseph Jimenez, Marie Le Gall, and Vicky Zhang are all uniquely talented in their cleverness from behind the lens. While Joseph commits himself to the notion of shooting with intention, Vicky rejects it. Yet both artists form images that are meritorious in their own right. The allegorical destinations may be the same in quality, the evocation of emotion, meaning, or however else you might evaluate a photograph, but the paths taken are distinctly contrasting. Marie's body of work in this edition explores a central theme. While the photographs have already seemingly told the stories on their own, she shares with us a further examination of the contemplation behind them.

Joseph's imagery is simply beautiful, and he employs his talents throughout a large range of photographic styles and genres. Marie, who is also interviewed by Dante Ruscitti in this issue, focuses her artistic efforts on capturing moments that intertwine the human body with nature and the sense of home. Her collection aspires to destigmatize the topics surrounding nude photography, and speaks to connection, expression, and authenticity. Vicky Zhang, who is interviewed by Erin McIntosh, is a Contax fanatic who uses her artistic wit and strong photographic eye to turn the mundane into what may feel like a scene from a movie. Shooting a good deal of street photography in Toronto, she aims for the stories behind her shots to be left up to the viewer's imagination. We hope you all connect with these photographers in some way and appreciate their artistry.
