Submission Guidelines

Whether you’re an amateur or a pro, we’d love to connect and potentially help promote your work. Through features, interviews, and articles, we can work together to get your art showcased through the blog, Y35 Mag (print), or other exclusive pages within this site.

Image Requirements:

• Please only submit .jpg or .png file formats when sending images.

• Do not include any photoshopped borders or watermarks in your image submissions.

• Y35 Mag is dedicated to analog photography, so make sure to only submit images captured on film.

Text Requirements:

• Please include a detailed biography about yourself. We’d love to get to know you and learn about your artistic inspirations and styles.

• Make sure to let us know what your goals are and where you think your work may fit within the Y35 Mag brand.

• Let us know about your process - Do you develop and scan on your own? What equipment do you use? What are you favorite film stocks? Etc.

Email Requirements:

After reviewing the above image and text guidelines, please make sure to follow these steps before reaching out:

• In the subject line of your email, please state: “Submission: Name / Location”

• Make sure all images are included as attachments. Do not embed images or include Google Drive or Dropbox links. You may also submit images via a zip file. Please use the same formatting as the email subject line when naming the zip file.

• In the body of your email, please include your name and any social media handles/names as you would like them to appear if featured on the Y35 Mag website or in the Y35 Mag print magazine. Image titles are not necessary, but please include them and any other relevant information including film stock, camera, lens, etc. if you would like them to be included with your feature should your submission be accepted.

• If you have your own website, portfolio, or social media accounts, feel free to include links in the body of the email.

• Include any writing or word-based submissions in the body of the email. Please be aware that your writing may be subject to editing before being published should your work be accepted.

Send your submission to community@y35mag.com. We will try our best to review and reply to each submission, but cannot guarantee a response. Also, while it may seem lame, please read and review the copyright information section below before submitting any of your work. Thank you and we look forward to connecting!

By submitting photos and/or articles for publication on y35mag.com or in the Y35 Mag print magazine, you warrant and represent to us that you own all rights, title, and interest in the copyright to these photographs, articles, and/or word-based submissions. You are granting Alta Studios LLC dba Y35 Mag a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-royalty bearing, non-transferable license to use the photograph and/or articles for publication on the y35mag website or in the Y35 Mag print magazine. Articles and word-based submissions will be subject to review and editing for typos, formatting, and style preferences. Photographs may be subject to modifications, such as sizing and reformatting, to accommodate publication on y35mag.com, in the Y35 Mag print magazine, or other social media platforms. You also grant Alta Studios LLC dba Y35 Mag permission to use these photographs, articles, and word-based submissions on social media accounts connected to Y35 Mag including, but not limited to Facebook and Instagram. Should you, for any reason, wish your photographs, articles, and word-based works to be removed from the website, we will make every effort to do so. However, please note that third parties such as educational institutions, search engines, or individuals may download, save, store, or archive this (or any other) website. Alta Studios LLC dba Y35 Mag has no control over such downloading and subsequent reproduction and therefore does not accept responsibility for any such use. If your work is included in a Y35 Mag print magazine, we will not remove the work from issues that have already been distributed. If your submission is accepted and subsequently featured either on the Y35 Mag website or in the Y35 Mag print magazine, you will not receive and are not entitled to any monetary compensation unless prior agreements with Alta Studios LLC dba Y35 Mag have been arranged and enacted through legal contracts signed by both parties.
